Virgin Australia has today launched the first of its direct flights from Adelaide to Bali.

Flights will be operating through the entirety of the peak season, with 2,464 seats per week on sale. In total, Virgin Australia will provide over 70,000 seats per year between the two destinations.

The Adelaide to Bali service is set to depart at 5:50 pm from Adelaide and arrive in Bali at 8:40 pm. Returning, the flight will department from Bali at 10:50 pm and arrive in Adelaide at 6:20 am.

The flights will be leaving from Adelaide Airport, with the airport’s managing director, Brenton Cox, saying he was looking forward to welcoming the new route.

“We’re into the very busy peak holiday period over Christmas / New Year and we know there is significant pent-up demand for South Australians wanting to head to holiday destinations such as Bali for the first time in three years,” he said.

“It’s exciting to see the launch of this route as part of wider strong growth in our international markets.”

Virgin Australia’s chief strategy and transformation officer Alistair Hartley also praised the new route, saying that customers now had more options to travel to the popular destination.

“Virgin Australia’s Adelaide-Bali service creates more value and choice for travellers and is great news for South Australians,” Hartley said.

“This is a year-round service that will operate daily in the peaks and continue three times per week in the off season.

“We are excited to see this service take-off, representing the latest step in our growing short-haul international footprint.”

The new service to Bali is part of a series of new routes by Virgin Australia to meet increased demand. The airline is currently operating more flights from Adelaide than it was prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, with capacity in December sitting at 118 per cent of the comparable period in 2019.

As part of this push, Virgin Australia will be resuming flights between Adelaide and Tasmania this week.

The revamped Adelaide to Launceston services will be kicking off on the 15th of December, with services from Adelaide to Hobart launching on the 16th of December.

The Christmas period is expected to be particular busy in Adelaide for Virgin Australia, with the airline operating up to 10 services per day between the most popular route of Adelaide to Melbourne, and five per day between Adelaide and Brisbane and Sydney.
