in Aviation News

John Barber, EAA 1240641, flew his first Young Eagle on January 29! John is the fifth Ray scholar in EAA Chapter 677 to reach this milestone.

Since his checkride on June 21 last year, John has been busy. Soon after his checkride, John and his father Shawn, EAA 1246039, attended AirVenture 2022 and immersed themselves in The Spirit of Aviation.

He was recently promoted to cadet second lieutenant (C/2LT) and flight commander in the Civil Air Patrol. When not accumulating hours in the family Varga 2150 Kachina, John has been logging time in a Cub to earn his tailwheel endorsement.

His recent nomination to the United States Air Force Academy moves him one step closer to his dream of becoming an Air Force pilot.

Read more about John’s journey.
