EAA’s Attic — Poberezny Beer Bottles – Hangar Flying

This piece originally ran in the January 2023 issue of EAA Sport Aviation magazine.

These Paul Poberezny-themed beers were commissioned by Clarence Weisbrod, EAA 277058, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, between 2001 and 2010. Clarence was a longtime friend of Paul’s since the two served together in the Wisconsin Air National Guard between 1949 and 1955. Clarence was a technician, and Paul was his supervisor. The beers were produced by the Specialty Brewing Co. of Stevens Point, and they seem to have been an annual tradition between Paul and Clarence, likely around Christmas time. The Poopdeck’s Delight name comes from Paul’s nickname. The bottles were donated to EAA by Clarence.
